A grawlix is a string of typographical symbols, especially “@#$%&!”, used mostly in comic strips to represent an obscenity or swear word.
The Grawlix is a three man comedy team consisting of Adam Cayton-Holland, Ben Roy and Andrew Orvedahl. These guys put on a monthly comedy show, tasking themselves to have new material every month, and also bringing in top talent from around the country. Grawlix shows can be loud, abrasive, obscene, and most definitely funny. I was tasked with creating a logo that would convey all of that. Just like the grungy Denver neighborhood where The Grawlix was birthed, the logo is gritty and loud.
